Grupo Soma owns premium fashion brands, with more than 280 stores and expansion into the United States and Europe. For 10 years its management reports were consolidated in Excel. At its current size, spreadsheets as a data source had become insecure and inefficient.
The Challenge
“Communication flow was the best possible.”
The Solution
A data warehouse organized in three blocks
BIX restructured a data warehouse to automate the consolidation routines, bringing different sources together in three blocks: revenue, taxes, and expenses.
- A specific routine was designed and automated for each block, from simple column selection to complex allocations by brand and channel
- The data warehouse was loaded with historical data
- The routines now run periodically
A daily morning check-in planned the day, with immediate replanning whenever something went off track.
Results
Before: About 12 to 16 hours of manual work per month
After: A few hours of automatic processing
- Project completed on time
